School of Medical Technology - Medical Laboratory Science

Bayfront is the choice healthcare provider for many in the local community. As someone looking to study medical technology, it can be your choice place to learn.
Bayfront's School of Medical Technology is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)* and offers a 50-week curriculum that can lead to a bachelor's degree for students attending an affiliated university or a certificate of completion for non-affiliated students.
Clinical Laboratory Rotations
Clinical Laboratory rotations include studies in microbiology, chemistry, hematology/coagulation, urinalysis, immunology (serology), immunohematology (blood banking), molecular diagnostics and phlebotomy.
All rotations include specimen collection and processing, department instrumentation, quality control and clinical correlations.
Students will receive a certificate of completion upon finishing the program. The program does not grant academic credit. Academic credit is granted by affiliated universities and colleges as published in their catalogs.
The program also fulfills requirements for national certification exams in medical technology given by certification agencies and state licensing exams. Exams are taken by the student after successful completion of the program. Awarding of a baccalaureate degree or certificate of completion is not contingent upon passing the state licensing or national certification exams.
Tuition & Fees
Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Tuition: $1,000 - 2,500
Additional fees are charged for text books and Florida licensure.
Scholar's Programs may be available; contact the program director for specific criteria.
Bayfront's School of Medical Technology is affiliated with the University of South Florida and St. Leo University. Affiliations and adjunct faculty may vary from year to year.

Aggregate certification examination scores achieved by Bayfront graduates are generally at or above the national means for the specialty areas of the MLS Generalist Examination.
